I welcome you, to the world I live in Where time looks like a gun, that postpones pulling the trigger I welcome you, to dig into the ground As long as it's your own grave I welcome you, to the world I live in Where time looks like a bomb, where only we can fit in Don't fool yourself, and don't you fool the rest, As long as it's your own grave And the more we know, the more we know The less gold glows, the less gold glows And the more we know, the more we know The less gold glows, the less gold glows I welcome you, to the world I live in Where time looks like a bomb, where only we can fit in Don't fool yourself, and don't you fool the rest, As long as it's your own grave And the more we know, the more we know The less gold glows, the less gold glows And the more we know, the more we know The less gold glows, the less gold glows

You will save yourself with anyone You find yourself in a shield of iron Whatever you do keeps me waiting Whatever you do keeps me awake So tell me what you're made of ‘Cause that’s what I’m afraid of Tell me what you're made of That’s what I’m afraid of, …is what I’m afraid of.

I Don't See 03:37
Even though I moved on, doesn’t mean that it is over, the moment it is over When I look back at us, I will always remain peaceful Now that it’s over, doesn’t mean that I forgot you Only told you, that you can call me again I don't see, I don't see, what you learned from loving me I don't see, I don't see, what I learned When I look back at us, don't regret it I reject it, but wish I could protect it I like to look back us; I defend it It's not what I expected Now it's over, doesn't mean that, it is over Only told you, you can't call me again I don't see, I don't see, what you learned from loving me I don't see, I don't see, what I learned
4.
Ivy 03:36
There's a twist in my head Never thought I would see the truth Wanna lose and let go Double taking Remembering the taste Are these veins beneath my skin? Don’t you think that, it’s twisted I think it’s twisted Tied up in memory-ivy Growing inside me Don’t you think that, it’s twisted I think it’s twisted Veins of memory-ivy Look how you tied me Didn’t get the tattoo Permanence was on you I changed Still the frames filled the walls I just waited for the sun, to bleach them all And the time flew, like snowbirds in June Are these veins Are these veins, Are these veins beneath my skin Don’t you think that, it’s twisted I think it’s twisted Tied up in memory ivy Growing inside me Don’t you think that, it’s twisted I think it’s twisted Veins of memory ivy Look how you tie me
5.
You can make me feel bad, if you want to I don't need, those things you said I was I can live on my own There's a place, for us in the real world You can make me feel bad, if you want to I don't need, those things you said I want I can live on my own There's a place, for us in the real world You can make me feel bad, if you want to You can make me feel bad
6.
Don't Call 03:36
Don't eat me, I've been poisoned Plant a tree for me, so I can rest in the shade Will I confess to the unknown? Or will I stay for way too long? Don't call to get me over, if you want to run We can't hide from the sun Don't call to get me over, because you don't give a damn Don't call to get me over I can't recall what I long for Now the truth is there, but I’m not sure Give me some shade, so I can see How you feel towards me Don't call to get me over Don't call the to get me here Don't call to get me over, ‘cause you don't give a damn Don't call Don't call to get me over, if you want to run We can't hide from the sun Don't call to get me over, if you want to run Don't call, because you don't give a damn

If I go out alone See it all the time People that I want to know Throw them a dime Put myself at risk Put myself in danger When I get hung up, hung up on a stranger I fall in love, so easily in love I fall in love, so easily, so easily It never stops, it never gets me high enough I fall in love, so easily in love Maybe I’m a faker Maybe I’m the one Hidden in the make up, for when you come I smile all the time Looking like a clown Look at all the faces, Too many to count I fall in love, so easily in love I fall in love, so easily, so easily It never stops, it never gets me high enough I fall in love, so easily in love Step into the darkness, queen of the night Master of the drama, turn out the light I fall in love, so easily in love I fall in love, so easily, so easily It never stops, it never gets me high enough I fall in love, so easily in love

Lovely Lady 03:32
Life is a time bomb Where did our time run? Seconds have turned in to tears No one knows where, to look when you’re there Gazing down at their feet I’ll catch you later in life I’ll call you later my wife Where do you go when you leave? Lovely lady, you’ve been on my mind lately Lovely lady, please get home safely “Fool, Fool, Fool” Guess I’m a fool to let you slip through Let your lips lead to me I’ll catch you later in life I’ll call you later my wife Where do you go when you leave? Lovely lady, you’ve been on my mind lately Lovely lady, Please get home safely
9.
My Bad 03:37
Don't you want to sacrifice Don't you want to free yourself Don't you need, to enjoy the time you breath Don't you wanna live Oh you, coming from the flip side Yea you open up your mind (no more, my love, no more) Can't you see the beauty of the light Don't you want to travel through the night Would you be caught up in a haze Amazed by solitude and amazed by grace Oh you, Coming from the flip side Yea you, open up your mind
10.
Time For Me 03:12
It's hard to find, what's hard to see The dust, the light, my memory Time alone, and time to think without smoking, whitout a drink. Wanna stop, its a lie. We've got to quit, before we die We wanna live so, we fool hourselves Don't you deceive, somebody else We wanna live so, we fool hourselves don't you deceive, somebody else While still young and free, time alone, and time for me We've got to choose, our way to loose this A way to loose… We wanna live so, we fool ourselves don't you deceive, somebody else We wanna live so, we fool ourselves don't you deceive, somebody else

about

After his release of two EP’s in the last two years, Roel Gosto Vermeer has obviously stepped up his game. With ‘Memory Ivy’ he has really put his whole heart into it. And that heart is pomping, breathing, shaking and very much alive. His music is intense and profound, dark and light-hearted. You want to start dancing and close your eyes and lay down in the marram grass at the same time. GOSTO picks you up and let’s you float on a nostalgic, almost psychedelic trip. He unites contradictions to a warm, uplifting mix that leaves nobody unmoved.

Inspired by musicians such as Flying Lotus, James Blake, Thom Yorke and Jeff Buckley, GOSTO succeeds to combine a variety of styles into a whole new authentic sound. Underneath the first introduction you’ll find warm bases, raw beats, deep synths and pure soul, all interconnected by the dark, almost hypotic voice of Roel.
This multi-instrumentalist writes, sings, composes and produces all his songs himself. Supported by his strong lyrics and talented live band, GOSTO guides you through his world: his travels, his chaos and is unconditional love for music.

about

GOSTO Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Roel GOSTO Vermeer is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer. His debut album Memory Ivy (2016) put him on the map in one fell swoop and took him from Germany to Japan - from De Wereld Draait Door to shows with Jamie Lidell, Oscar and the Wolf and Thomas Dybdahl. GOSTO’s second album 'What Do You Mean, You Need a Color TV' (2019) brought more soul, lightness and tempo to the music. ... more
